St. Michael's First Minutes: 1957
(I found this partial copy of the first minutes of St. Michael's organizational meeting in the office, and I thought I would share it with you. -- Lael)
The four needs of the church are: Bread, Wine, and Container for them, and the Common Prayer Book. Reverend Schroeter offered for us to use his Chaplain's kit. The Church of Nativity, Dothan, and the Church of Epiphany, Enterprise are lending ten Common Prayer Books and ten Hymnals. Our first Service is to be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 1957.
Names for the Church were discussed. Reverend Meginniss asked everyone to give this some thought for a decision at a later date.
An election for a temporary treasurer was held and Mrs. Charles A. Carroll was elected.
A Planning Committee was appointed, Mrs. James Levy, Hubert Law, Scott Robinson, Henry Higham, Walter Clark, and Carl Sidorfsky.
Contributions were considered to start the treasury. This is to be taken up by the Planning Committee. A place for Sunday Services was asked to be decided upon by the following Wednesday, September 11, 1957.
The Reverend Meginniss offered a prayer to terminate our first meeting. Coffee and Kool Aide were served in the adjoining room.
