Godly Play
Godly Play is a distinctive approach to Christian ministry with children, both innovative and deeply grounded in our spiritual tradition.
Godly Play offers a child an accessible approach to the Word, offering a way for the child to be with God and know God and the Bible instead of simply knowing about God or about the Bible. It involves Holy reading, wondering and responding to the Bible's sacred stories.
Godly play teaches children and adults that being quiet and deliberate about their work can be as satisfying as being noisy, busy, and pushy. It delivers this counter-cultural antidote to busyness in a comforting and consistent way.
The object of Godly Play is to teach a sacramental worldview, in which everyday things such as bread, candles, oil, linens, and clay can point to a deeper reality than our materialistic and utilitarian society knows. It teaches reliance on a gracious God who is real and accessible in all the mystery of life, both sad and joyful - rather than dependence upon the transient "magic" that comes from the latest movie, toy, or video game.
Godly Play is held each Sunday at St. Michael's from 9 to 10 a.m. Visitors are welcome to come and bring their children for Godly Play. Lael Walding is the story teller and Linda Clifford is also trained.
St. Michael's Episcopal Church is located at 427 Camilla Street, Ozark. The Rev. Dr. Tom Nixon, Vicar.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School 2007 was a big success. The subject was Exodus. For five days we learned about the People of God. How they left Egypt and learned how to follow God's Law. Read more about what we did and see many photos of what happened. < MORE >
